I have spent over a decade practicing yoga and have recently found a yoga home at Flow Yoga Center here in D.C. This has provided me the opportunity to learn more about the various vinyasa-based styles of yoga and train under incredible teachers including: Debra Mishalove, Jessica Lazar, Megan Davis, Angela Cerkevich, Cory Bryant, Alison West, Simon Park, David Kyle, Sri Dharma Mittra, and many more. I recently completed my 200 hour yoga teaching certification from Flow Yoga Center. I completed teacher training with Street Yoga and will be training for Thai Massage in 2010. I also plan to explore other forms of yoga therapy including Yoga Nidra.
I have a background in psychology and community development and have been working on issues around homelessness for the past three years. Before that, I researched issues around public school reform, children’s health, permanent supportive housing and youth violence intervention strategies. Now I spend my days as a policy associate for a non-profit that preserves affordable housing throughout the nation and I continue to look for ways to bring opportunities to communities that have been historically denied access to social mobility. My dream is to facilitate the creation of this coalition of healers to serve these vulnerable communities and help them heal. I am continuously inspired by innovative solutions and passionate people and I feel very lucky being in the middle of both.
