I was introduced to yoga at 12 years old, and it has been the guiding force of my life ever since. What originally drew me to yoga, like poetry, was a resonance with the state of flow and the potential for a life of self-revelation through practice. I wanted to relate to the world around me from the root connectivity underlying all things.  It was this instinct that led me to explore the depths of yoga asana and philosophy through my teens and twenties, and to serve others on the path of healing.

After countless namaskars, today my life has become a tapestry of sacred learning – nearly a thousand hours of teacher training with world-renowned practitioners (most notably in the systems of Ashtanga, Power Yoga, and Prana Flow), an academic background in poetry and religious studies (from Georgetown and Oxford University), a career in communications and sustainable development (at the United Nations Foundation), daily meditation, global adventuring, mystical philosophy, and endless study of the ancient traditions and contemporary innovations of yoga.

My intention in teaching is to hold space for others’ awakening to the great intangible about us. In classes, I do this by sharing classical and innovative approaches to vinyasa and restorative yoga drawn from Krishnamacharya’s teachings, Tantra, Ayurveda, Bhakti, and the revelations of my own mat.  Out in the world, I also serve as a catalyst of the annual DC Global Mala, part of a worldwide event that raises awareness and funds for issues such as global warming, fair trade, and equal education opportunities.

I’m honored to support the important work of Anahata Grace.
